Hello! From events to public relations, I want to master it all! I recently graduated from the University of San Diego with a double major in Communication Studies and Sociology. My love for the world of events and PR began while working for the USD Events and Promotions department during my time as a student.
Working in this department opened many opportunities for me. Some of my favorites were appearing in one of USD’s commercials (which aired during the super bowl!), and narrating the President’s Christmas card. I had the opportunity to see a side of the university that not many students do, by working signature events like the Founders’ Gala, Alumni Honors, and Wine Classic.
Product research, event setup, centerpieces, florals, linens are all in a days work for any event. However, in order for the success of any of these events, amazing marketing and PR is essential. Through a mutual friend, my resume fell into the hands of PR pro April Harter with WordPop PR. She extended the opportunity for an apprenticeship with her PR Firm, enabling me to get a feel of the fast paced PR world.
Thus far, it has been an amazing learning experience to familiarize myself with various tools and techniques that help in this fast paced PR world. From editorial calendars to contest write-ups, I’m eager and excited to see what these next few months have in store.
When I’m not working I love to bake and find new ways of decorating my home, especially now for the holiday season! Listening to oldies is my favorite pastime. My friends and family have influenced the person I am and want to become. Encouraging me to try new things and do what I love. I’m always open to new ideas and new places. Although I love San Diego, I strive for the best, and welcome any opportunity whether it be near or far (my heart is set on traveling to Italy)!
