I’m constantly consuming social media, but wasn’t introduced to new social media platform Houzz.com until a recent family trip to Arkansas/Oklahoma. It’s no surprise that the site instantly sucked me in. As a teen, I was glued to the television watching TLC’s Trading Spaces. Now, I’m a publicist for home builders, master-planned communities and an architect.

What is Houzz.com?

Houzz is an online platform for home remodeling, information, advice and support for homeowners and home improvement professionals. If you’re looking to remodel your home or garden, or simply get inspiration for a future project, the social media platform may be your new addiction. Here’s why:

Houzz.com is similar to Pinterest, but instead of pinning photos to boards, users add photos to an ideabook. Other features include:

1) price tags within some photos that enable you to locate and price items
of interest
2) a section with articles written by users
3) a discussion section for asking questions/exchanging ideas
4) a section listing professionals in the industry based on your
location

As stated on Houzz.com, the site features the largest residential design database in the world, articles written by design experts, product recommendations, a vibrant community powered by social tools, and information on more than 1.3 million remodeling and design professionals worldwide who can help turn ideas into reality.

I look forward to spending more time on Houzz.com!
